DATE, TIMES, & LOCATIONS: August 4th, 2006. 5 mile run and 2 mile run at 8:00 am. The 5 mile run begins at Free State while the 2 mile run begins just west of the Lied Center. The one mile fun run starts at 9:30 am in front of "Chesty Lion" at Lawrence HS.
COURSES: The 5 mile run follows a hilly and challenging course through Lawrence. The two mile run is a downhill and flat fast course. There will be water stations along the course, and plenty of food and drink after the race. NOTE: Traffic control and aid on the course will end at times equal to a 16 minute per mile pace. Runners who do not maintain this pace may continue, but should be aware that there may be no support on the course. See below for a course map and elevation chart.
PACKET PICK-UP AND RACE DAY ENTRY: Lawrence High School from 6:00am to 7:30am. Race day entry for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk continues until 9:20am.
You may also register on Friday, August 3rd, at Francis Sporting Goods, 731 Mass. St. from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm. To avoid race-day rush, pre-registered runners are strongly encouraged to pick up their packets at this time.
NOTE: THERE IS NO REGISTRATION OR PACKET PICK-UP AT THE START AT FREE STATE HIGH SCHOOL OR THE LIED CENTER!
TRANSPORTATION TO THE START: Transportation will be available from the registration/finish area at Lawrence High to the start at Free State High School and the Lied Center. Busses will be leaving LHS from 6:00am until 7:30am on race day. This year there is NO CHARGE for transportation. THERE WILL BE NO TRANSPORTATION BACK TO FREE STATE OR THE LIED CENTER AFTER THE RACE. The last bus will leave Lawrence High at 7:30am. Arrive early, and don't plan on taking the last bus to Free State or the Lied Center as it may be full. The race will start at 8:00am sharp!
The races will be run rain or shine.
AWARDS: INDIVIDUAL--Top overall male & female, plus awards in 5 year age groups.
All finishers 14 and under will receive ribbons in the one mile fun run.
Runners in the 5 mile and 2 mile run may check sweats and other personal items at the starting line at FSHS for transportation to the finish line at LHS. No roller blades, bicycles or pets will be allowed on the courses. Baby strollers will be allowed in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk only.
